Metallophilic Interactions in Bimetallic Cyclometalated Platinum(II) N?Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes

Platinum(II) complexes with rigid and electron donating ligands are efficient phosphorescent emitters at room temperature. However, the excited-state lifetimes of these are, in general, relatively long. This problem, which can result degradation emitter, be overcome by exploiting natural tendency platinum to form metallophilic interactions aggregates. Herein, we report platinum(II) bimetallic 100 % quantum yield same time exceptionally short radiative decay times, some cases up a hundredfold faster than analogous monometallic complexes.

The synthesis and structure of rare acyclic alkoxy- and aminocarbene complexes of gold(i) are reported, including a novel ferrocenophane dinuclear biscarbene complex. X-Ray diffraction analyses and DFT calculations reveal that these complexes are stabilized by genuine aurophilic interactions.
